Attaque à la bombe hier matin dans une église d'Arusha

Une personne a été tuée (il s'agirait d'un enfant) et 50 autres ont été blessées hier matin (dimanche) dans l'explosion d'une bombe présumée visant une église catholique à Arusha, près du centre ville.

Le nonce apostolique (ambassadeur) du Saint-Siège, Mgr Francisco Montecillo Padilla, assistait à la consécration officielle de l'église lorsque l'explosion s'est produite. Le diplomate ne fait pas partie des blessés.

Nous étions à la messe au même moment, mais dans une autre église du centre. Nous n'avons rien entendu. Nous ne savons pas trop quoi penser de la situation inter religieuse en Tanzanie... En effet, un prêtre a également été tué sur Stonetown (Zanzibar) en avril dernier. Le meurtrier a été retrouvé dans l'hôtel où nous devions séjourner fin avril, c'est comme ça que nous l'avons su d'ailleurs.

A bomb attack to a holy Catholic Mass has killed one person and wounded more than 50 others in a suspected terror attack in the city of Arusha Sunday morning.

The blast, believed to be a bomb attack, hit the new Catholic church in the Olasiti area before a mass attended by the Arusha Diocese Bishop Josaphat Lebulu accompanied by the Vatican Ambassador to Tanzania, Archbishop Francisco Montecillo Padilla. They were in attendance for the official opening of the church when the explosion occurred.
